February was a busy month for Brooke Buckland, which managed local PR for two global events - Formula E Cape Town and The Ocean Race.
The Ocean Race is one of the world's most prestigious (and toughest) sporting events, and this year Cape Town hosted the five IMOCA vessels and some of the best offshore sailors from around the world when they arrived for their race stopover in early February.
This year marks the twelfth time the race has stopped in Cape Town, making it the most visited stopover in the history of the 50-year event. Here boats were lifted from the water for maintenance ahead of the Leg 3 departure on 26th February, when the boats set sail from Cape Town on the longest leg of the race in its history, a 12 750 nautical mile , 34-day marathon to Itajaí, Brazil.
